The "Education Package"

Dear Family,
 
since January 2011 children, juveniles and young adults from families living on
social welfare benefits mentioned below have the legal right to education and
participation.
 
A participation in sports, music, culture, school trips and lunch in day nurseries and
school institutions are also included just like school materials, supplementary adequate learning support and transportation of pupils. The enclosed table gives you an overview of various services. If you draw benefit according to the Social Book of
Law II (job centre is responsible) or social security, housing allowance, child allowance or benefits according to the Asylum Seeker Benefits Law (municipal administration is responsible), then you are entitled to use the various offers of the educational package. To start with, please find the applications enclosed.
 
Please hand in that completed applications (including details of school and day nursery institutions or of the service supplier - sports club, music school, etc.) to the responsible job centre or municipal administration.
 
Please pay attention to the following:
After expiry of the above mentioned services, the education and participation
services will again have to be renewed. An automatic renewal does not occur.

Out of school learning support Direct payment to the providers of learning support Application is necessary Pupils of up to 24 years who attend a general or vocational school and do not receive vocational training pay; reaching the essential learning targets is at risk; offers of the school are completely exhausted. the necessity of a maximum 40 hours per subject per school year must be confirmed by the school
Transport for pupils Share of reduced monthly ticket Application is necessary Pupils of up to 24 years who attend a general or vocational school and do not receive vocational training pay Fundamentally, the directives of the Pupils´ Travelling Expenses Regulations NRW apply
Participation in social and culture life Direct payment of maximum 10 Euros monthly to the service providers Application is necessary Children and juveniles up to 17 years Can be used for sport, games social activities, lessons in music, art, handicraft, guided visits to museums and similar things for leisure time (e.g. boy/girl guides, theatre leisure time)
Lunch catering Direct payment to day nursery/school or service providers, own part of 1 Euro per meal Application is necessary Children in day nurseries; pupils of up to 24 years who attend a general or vocational school and do not receive a vocational training pay; the school or day nursery must offer a common meal at lunch time enrolment for lunch catering must be verified
